Meet BlogTour Las Vegas sponsor Dekton by Cosentino

We were thrilled to once again have solid surface super stars Cosentino join BlogTour during KBIS 2014 and we were especially excited to learn that for this year we would be revealing in full what we only saw as private sneak peek in 2013 – Dekton, the brand new addition to a product line up that includes Silestone, Eco and many other solid surface materials.

Cosentino HQ Offices

The family-owned global company  proudly launched Dekton by Cosentino soon after we got a glimpse of it in New Orleans, introducing it as “a new ultra-compact surface set with advanced technical properties for both interior and exterior design.” Cosentino continues,”The global launch embodies Cosentino’s commitment to innovation, the evolution of the surfacing industry, and the future of the family-owned multinational company.”

Dekton by Cosentino Keranium

Dekton is a revolutionary new surface that is made from a blend of inorganic raw materials including glass, porcelain tile, and natural quartz. The process, called Particle Sintering Technology (PST), combines technologies from all three industries and is exclusive to Cosentino.  PST is basically an accelerated type of metamorphism, the change in form of rocks and stones through the application of heat and pressure over a period of thousands of years. Cosentino has been able to replicate this natural process and reduced it from thousands of years to 4 hours, producing a brand new material, the ultra compact surface. The result is, not only, completely innovative, but also stunning as you can see in the Keranium slab above.

The intricate and advanced PST process creates surfaces that carry a unique UV resistance for color stability outdoors and maintain high strength and performance. Dekton is highly impact and scratch resistant with low water absorption. Cosentino further discusses the benefits of Dekton, “It also provides thermal shock resistance against heat, frost, and thawing, enabling the product to be used outside in any climate.” The ingenuity of Dekton by Cosentino, allows for installation and use for both interiors and exteriors further providing designers and builders with the ability to incorporate a seamless surface product throughout the home for continuity in design. Dekton surfaces can adapt to any part of the home with subtle textures and organic color options as architectural elements such as flooring, cladding or countertops. Dekton offers 12 finishes including black, white, grey and natural stone with three different finishes, including polished, matte and slate.  Having had the opportunity to see Dekton up close and personal during BlogTour Las Vegas we can honestly say that Cosentino has, once again, rocked the world of design.
